Bat Mitigation Design

The presence of bats will require any proposed development to take account of bats and determine whether the scheme will have an impact upon the bats. Where bats are known to roost in a building it will be necessary to submit an application for a European Protected Species licence before development is commenced. The aim of any licence application should be to minimise the impact of the development upon bats through avoidance, reduction, amelioration and compensation.

This can take the form of designing developments to avoid disturbing or impacting upon bats, or designing areas of a building to replace existing roosts. We can help design these features while at the same time ensuring that building quality and complience with the Building Regulations is not compromised.

"...as bats natural roosting sites have become more scarces, roosts in buildings have become more important"
